Sleeping in armor?

I didn't found anything about it in the books.
What happened to sleeping in armor? If it's not written anywhere, I assume there's no penalty for it ? Or will you house rule that you just can't sleep in armor or give a penalty (wich would be... ?).

A long rest is a long rest, you're assumed to sleep durring it, but it's not absolutely required. You can sleep in Armor. Maybe that's why you need that 15 CON to get Plate Armor proficiency, so you're tough enough to sleep in it? ;)

No, there is no rule in 4e for it, therefore, there is no penalty.

You are not to worry about such trivial matters in this system because they are just not "fun."

Seriously. You don't worry about nitpicky details because that detracts from the "fun" of the game.

Did you check the DMG?

how about this:

if you sleep/extended rest in armor, you regain everything you would normally regain except hit points.

So, if you are down HP and want to start the day at full HP, if you choose to sleep in armor, you'll have to burn some surges to get back to full.

I wonder wich is the best option : not been able to heal hps or loosing healing surges? Not healing hps is less drastic in some cases where you didn't loose hp or a small amount. But then, if you're low on HP, it's costly. In the other hand, loosing 1 or 2 healing surges is 25 to 50% of your HP, wich is a lot. But then again, if a character has full hp, he won't bother removing his armor to sleep. And don't forget scale armor don't have ACP, so saying you loose healing surges equal to ACP means nothing if you wear that armor.

I think I'll go for : if you sleep in armor, you can't heal hp.

Note : As already said, when taking a long rest, you don't necessarly sleep, but you still need 6 hours of sleep per day to be able to regain benefits from an extended rest (see PHB p.263).

Any comments or suggestions?
