Smallville 1.26.05

My favorite line of the episode:

Alicia: "I want this to last forever!"
Clark: "I'm not sure if that's one of my abilities, but I'll give it a shot."

I almost spit my pop all over myself at that point.

Also I was sure that Clark would shatter the ice when he fell at the skating rink and the little PSA afterwords made me laugh too, I expected Allison Mack to say "and knowing is half the battle" lol

Point #1: Sarah Carter's Alicia was ADORABLE. I liked her the first time around and I loved her in this ep. She is so girly without being annoying that I just can't resist her. Doesn't hurt that she is smokin' hot (as are all the female leads on the show, including Erica Durance and Annette O'Toole).

Point #2: Alicia and Clark had awesome chemisty. As mentioned, I really wish that she could become a semi-regular on the show but I think she's gonna get offed next week (note that I have no idea if this is true or not). :( The great thing about chemistry is that it made all the romance scenes actually work. The two characters actually *desired* each other and you could see the longing in Clark's eyes. He was crushed when she betrayed him and he still forgave her.

Point #3: I so want to believe that Lionel has turned the corner and believes what he says. But like Lex, I am untrusting. The beauty of the situation is that the writers could go either way and still make an excellent story out of it. Any way you slice it, there is no good to come of the situation for Lex. He's too far gone to ever really trust his dad. His emotional walls are build too high and he's cultivated a healthy mistrust that will only be broken by his father's ultimate sacrifice (the inevitable death where he saves Lex's life and drives Lex further into his villain persona).

So little screen time and such a wonderful plot line.

Point #4: Lana's romance scenes were ackward and a little forced. I'm pretty sure that was done on purpose to show the contrast between her situation and Clark's but it still made me feel uncomfortable. Kinda like walking in on a mother/sister by accident while they are undressed. Ew. Ew. Ew.

Final Grade: 3.5 out of 4 stars. I really liked this ep overall. High marks for making me really feel for Clark, Alicia, Lex, Lionel and Chloe.

The Ratings Breakdown

4 = Classic. Blew me away from start to finish.
3 = Very good. Entertaining and a worthwhile experience.
2 = Average. Watchable but flawed.
1 = Terrible. Unwatchable dreck.
0 = I wish I had that time back. So bad that I may never watch the show again.

Did I miss something or are Clark and Alisha still married? Just watched the tape again and they never say anything about it at the end. If Clark is over 18 and Alisha is too, doesn't that mean they still are? This could make an interesting complication later. Oh, and just for the record I have to agree about Chloe being pretty hot too. I think I would classify Chloe and Alisha near the top of heap, with Lois pulling a close third, and Lana's pouty look bringing up the rear. But that's just one mans opinion. Hope Wednesday night's episode is as good as this one. And FWIW I agree that it's probably Chloe in the car. Of course if it is it sure convolutes things all too hell. Now she'll know his secret and his secret romance possibly. Could be a good angle if they don't hose it up (too badly). :]

...A very good episode all around. Except for Lana's lame attempt to get her guy into bed. Didn't like how that went.

She was supposed to be a virgin, and therefore her attempt was supposed to be lame. It played pretty well to me - although they might still shock everybody and say about two episodes from now that Lana and Jason DID have that "special night" after all (after the cameras cut away).

My God, I didn't realize how short Kristin Kreuk is! She was standing on tip toes to hug Jensen Ackles!

Can't wait to see this weekend.

When Clark and Martha are having their talk at the end, Clark mentions that the marriage wasn't legal. So no, they're not married, and never really were.

I am not sure how old Clark is or Alisha for that matter, Close to 18 I am sure. Pretty pumped about this episode coming up too.
