Intelligent weapons....two memories stand out:

If we're sharing stories, I'll reach back to a character played in my campaign when I was in jr high. Somewhere in 1e, there was a rule that gave a chance for nasty stuff like demon princes hearing their name spoken and showing up to collect their due. One of the PCs found an over-confident sword who wanted to make a name for itself. If it got bored, it would start chanting, "Demogorgon, Demogorgon, Demogorgon...." Being a 10th level 1e barbarian, though, the PC won. Still, it was fun to re-introduce the sword years later in a different campaign.

LOL! Oh man, if that isn't worth some XP I don't know what is!

I was pondering whipping up an artifact/intelligent weapon for an upcoming NPC, and here's this article! I'm truly blessed!

Blackrazor is one of my favorite intelligent weapons.

Another of course is the sword it's based on, Stormbringer.

And hell, even Palladium had a decent one, Death Kiss.
