Sneak attack when swallowed whole?

Actually, I just looked at the Swallow whole ability, and it seems to do more damage then chewing does as it is.

But I still feel that if a monster has the Swallow Whole ability, they should have the option of dealing double bite damage every round like in the Snatch feat.

Well, if the monster has the snatch feat, it'd have to do bite damage every round until the character it was eating died, then it could swallow.

If the monster had the Swallow Whole ability, and we give it the ability to do double damage per round biting and chewing a character before swallowing, if they did use their ability and swallowed a character whole before that character was dead, just do the normal damage that swallow whole would confer.

My problem with Swallow Whole as the only option to a monster eating a character is like what Jester said. He ended up taking less damage a round inside the purple worm than he had been outside. There should be the option of the monster forgoing swallowing a character in a given round for dealing lots of biting damage instead. Giving monsters with "Swallow Whole" the double damage chewing ability of "Snatch" fixes that problem.

I agree that it might fix the problem, but what if the creature just swallowed the creature alive? How would you deal with the creature trying to escape the bowls of this creature that just swallowed him/her?

If they tried to escape, isn't it just a successful grapple check to climb back out, then a second to get out of it's mouth?

What I think was being asked was what should happen with Sneak Attack. I figure, the character would have to have studied the monsters anatomy beforehand to pull it off. Otherwise, I like my games a bit "James Bond-ish", just a bit, so I'd give the Rogue a 1 in 4 chance of being able to use their sneak attack damage when they attacked from the inside.

I am not going to repost my reply to the whole sneak attack subject, but just wanted to ask your opinion of that post.

What do you think?
