Sneak Attacks and Uncany Dodge.

Questions

First Post
Hey, I have been trying to figure some stuff out...

Now my question goes something like this, in the description of the uncanny dodge description, for purpouses of being immune to flanking, it states that a rogue of 4 levels higher may still flank someone.

Now what I am wondering is what about other classes WITH sneak attack, and uncanny dodge? For example, Assassin... if you have 4 more levels in the assassin class then the person has levels in a class with uncanny dodge can you sneak attack him?

Most people seem to say yes... But I was curiouse to get some responces from more then once source.

Also... In the rogue book the feat Quicker then the eye states in its description that if the action you take with your gained partial action from your bluff is an attack then your opponent has no dex bonus, it does not say that he is flat footed, or anything of that sort... just that he loses his dex bonus, so would uncanny dodge work against that feat? I thought maybe it was a mistake in the book and the book meant to say that the person is flat footed, but I could not find any errata for the song and silence... so I was not sure, maybe quicker then the eye is suposed to let you bypass uncanny dodge.

Thanks everyone.

P.S. I have asked these questions to some others... so if you happen to be the one I asked please do not think I did not find your responce valuable... I am just trying to find the most true to the rules solution to my questions, and thought that the more responces I get the more valid the interpretation I end up choosing to use will be.

Given that sneak attack damage stacks, it seems reasonable to assume that your "sneak attack level" in general stacks. Hence if you're a rogue 6/assassin 4, you could sneak attack a 6th level rogue.

Also... Uncanny dodge does not work against that feat.

What if you have no levels in rogue? Only in say, Assassin, or a base class that is particular to the campain that has both uncanny dodge and sneak attack?

Another question: do you need to be better at sneak attack to sneak attack an enemy with uncanny dodge, or do you need to be better at uncanny dodge?

The meaning of this: if you have 10 levels worth of sneak attack, but only 6 levels worth of uncanny dodge, can you flank and sneak attack that barbarian 6? Do you need to have 10 levels worth of uncanny dodge as well?

Personally, I tend to using sneak attack as the decisive factor, but I'm not entirely sure!

I would think the levels in uncanny dodge where more important... the only thing sneak attack would be used for is to see if you can bypass in the first place...

IE: Barbarian 4 rogue 4 can bypass level 4 uncanny dodge...

barbarian 7 rogue 1 can bypass level 4 uncanny dodge...

Barbarian 7 can not bypass anyones uncanny dodge...

At least based on what people are telling me here, that seems to make the most sence.

Yes.

No. Why would you? The "can't be flanked" variety of UD only makes mention of rogue levels. The extension is to any class that can sneak attack, not to any class that has uncanny dodge.

I interpret it to mean character levels. If a character has 4 more levels than a character with uncanny (unflankable) then they can flank if they have sneak attack capability.

No, that would not be right. It would mean that your Rogue 1/ Wizard 7 could flank a Barbarian 4.

The problem of sneak attack vs. uncanny dodge is that there are classes with sneak attack but without uncanny dodge (e.g. Spymaster from Song & Silence). Could they bypass uncanny dodge, too?
