Sneak VS. Perception?

It's to discourage taking 10 cos nothing's more pleasing than the sound of dice rolling on the floor/book/table, coupled with the sound of someone going 'EEEE!' when it comes up a 1.

But since take 10 can only be used in non-stressful situations, there shouldn't be any reason for 'EEEE!' reactions ;)

Take 10 rocks. It streamlines so much of the game and avoids those annoying mishaps where terrible events occur during stupid moments. I am a big fan of having guards Take 5 (not vigilant), Take 10 (vigilant), or Take 12 (for when they know they're out there) and then give a bonus for groups. I also allow players to Take 10 on most rolls- we follows the rules- which makes this a pretty big non-issue. We tried Sneak from AU, but found it to be about equal to what we do now: people still take 10. As an aside- my players always, ALWAYS, have their hide and move silent exactly equal, which is also quite nice.
