Sniper rifle + necklace of fireballs = high-tech

I'm planning to run a 20th level one-shot at Gen Con. The setting is magical steampunk, and I want to come up with some interesting combinations of magic and technology.

The first idea I have is for the gun-wielding character. He'll have a rough, bulky +5 distance flaming sniper rifle with a range increment of 400 ft., that deals 2d12 damage per shot (basically a 50-cal from D20 Modern, with added magic). It's got the flaming enhancement, and the character would have different types of ammo. Normal bullets would be good enough against most foes, but when he really needs to kick ass, he uses some special rounds.

He takes a bullet, removes the head, and replaces it with a bead from a necklace of fireballs. Each bullet costs 1,500 gp, but it explodes with a 10d6 fireball.

So normally, 2d12+1d6+5 (plus some extra from Weapon Spec. and such), but with the potential to add on 10d6 more. Four shots per round. Sound good?

Any other suggestions?

I wouldn't think the fireball would be in addition to the gun damage, it's just a fireball with the gun providing the ability to throw it REALLY far. I'd stock up on beads of force too, always liked those things.

But really, the key here is to gt your target to WEAR a necklace of fireballs. Then from 400 ft away, shoot one of the beads with the flaming sniper bullet.

Bullet + Fire + Chain Reaction = *poof*

Probably a dumb question, but ... wouldn't a flaming sniper rifle kinda defeat the point?

Every single shot gives away your position.

The bullets don't flame. They simply deal fire damage when they hit. The bullets are invisible, and only ignite when they strike.
