Snow in Chicago

quite a warm start to the Utah winters. Many Salt Lake Area ski resorts had to use automatic snow machines to open.

I like snow, I find it pristine, but I HATE driving through it.

I first looked at this thread at about 9:15am, and it prompted me to look outside, through my blinds, noticing white. At first, I thought it was an optical illusion from the white blinds, then I looked closer and thought it was snow. Then I looked closer and thought it was just sun reflecting off of the sidewalk.

Then about an hour or two later, I realize it IS snow.

We've been getting that same Chicago snow, just a few hours later. It's been snowing all day with a 2-3 inch accumulation. But the roads and driveways have kept nice and melted.

Heck, we might take the kids sledding after Thanksgiving dinner.

We got our first road-freezing snow last Thursday. Got a little bit today but nothing accumulated.

On the other hand, yesterday or the day before they announced a winter storm warning for tomorrow (Thanksgiving) through Friday evening. Around here, if they announce it two days early, you know it's going to be bad. I guess they're predicting 6-12 inches near the lake.

Good thing I'm not planning on going anywhere.

It did a little snow-ish thing here this evening... nothing that stuck, but there were flakes and they did fall! Was BEAUTIFUL because they were big, wet flakes. It's done now, though. *pout*

When I got up to feed the beasts at 5am today, it was snowing pretty hard, and the ground was covered. When I got back up again at 8am (I was off today), the snow had stopped. By noon, it'd all melted (it was in the mid-40s).

I *so* don't envy the folks who live on the leeward side of any of the lakes...6-12" of lake snow isn't that uncommon, and that's what they're supposed to get tonight / tomorrow.

Yup, it's started already. There's been several times this morning when I could hardly see the buildings across the street through the blowing snow. It's just about noon Thursday now, and it looks like there's two to three inches on top of my car, and the winter storm warning runs through 5 PM Friday.
