Snow in Chicago

BOZ said:
it sure did happen where i live, on wednesday morning. :p

Yup. The lake is weird. We finally got some yesterday, late, over here near the zoo. I was out in Mount Prospect yesterday, too, and it wasn't much more than a dusting of snow, really, by Chicago standards. Curt and I went out to the Rockford area in the early afternoon and they didn't even have that much though the roads were very slick and the snow was being blown sideways by a good clip of a wind. It's an earlier enough start that could rise into a tough winter but it's hardly anything a Midwesterner would, so far, find more than a mere annoyance.

You all think it's weird where you are, try coming to Syracuse. :)

Being on said leeward side of a lake, not to mention right in the path of the "nor'easter" storms, means that my lovely little city usually gets quite a bit of snow. In fact, it's quite normal for us to have snow on the ground by Halloween.

So, when we have several days of weather in the 60s in November, and even one in the 70s, that is freaky. In fact, it's supposed to reach 60 on Tuesday. I'm more than a little weirded out. It is worse north of us though, but that's nothing new.

Of course, it also means that February will probably suuuuuuuck, but that's why I'm going on a cruise then. :) Everyone at work thinks I'm crazy for taking vacations in the middle of winter, but I'll be the one laughing come February. :p

Yup. Grew up in Oneonta (not far from Syracuse), went to school in Buffalo and live in Erie, PA. I think I've seen most of what winter has to offer by now. Still enjoy living where there are four seasons. :)

If the weather keeps on its path of decreasing temperatures, Scottsdale might see snow again this year! I really hope so, because the children that grow up here really are deprived of it. It would certainly warm up the holiday spirit!

man, this sucks... november almost never gets this much snow, in fact it often doesn't get any at all! some years we get little or nothing before new years!

Snow Schmow... We got thunderstorms and torrential rain last night out here in Batavia.

I couldn't ride my bicycle to work today, because it was raining too hard this morning. :\

yeah, thunderstorms last night here too actually.

and, ah, 58 degrees out there today... and 32 tomorrow. :(

Some rain and lots of fog here today. High around 65. Supposed to be a slight chance of severe weather here tomorrow, probably from that cold front that's making a mess of the midwest.
