PF2 So... Anyone Thinking Of Running A PF2 Game?

Kaodi

Since it came out today I have made three characters, the first being the symbolic first character that I did not completely calculate out, but the other two having been done up and pretty much ready to go. All three are human fighters, but one of the finished ones is a general character and the other is geared more towards Age of Ashes.

But I digress. Has anyone had a chance to look through it and get a sense of whether they want to run it here? I know the playtest game petered out but the adventures for that were not exactly designed for a serious campaign. I am loathe to try it myself because of technical difficulties with maps and the fact I need to devote any creative energies I have to my nascent Starfinder game.

Gonna go and keep on creating characters, 'cause that is always what I do with new systems I dig in to, ; ) .

I'm not ready to DM anything as of yet. I do like what I've read so far of the system and am working on my first character.

I'd do it, but I've already bitten off more than I can chew, GM-wise. I'd like to give it a try as a player, though. I was super excited for the playtest, but I quickly grew to loathe it, though not for a lot of the reasons that the haters usually state. (For example, I was indifferent to resonance, though I agreed that something better should be done)

I'm always interested in innovative mechanics, so I'd love to see how (if?) they improved the game over the playtest.

This is another idea I was playing around with today. A goblin gambler gambled on whether he could read and make sense of a book without losing his soul. The book turned out be a wizard's tome, and while he did not "lose" his soul he was hooked. To other goblins that was pretty much the same thing. The gambler Dunthus became the wizard Solusthus, a slight mispronunciation of Soulless Thus.

Now that the boards are back I am eager to see whether anyone s up to running a 2e game now, : ) . We have all had close to an extra week. I even learned some things chatting on Discord, like how casting spells with a shield is fine now? I have had a bunch more character ideas too, most of them less gimmicky than the one above (and a couple even more gimmicky).

I'm working on it. Haven't really had time to sit down and absorb rules yet though. Maybe this weekend while my wife is out of town. `;~}

I'm likely to run a few sessions, but not sure when. All my potential players (who are big fans of PF) suddenly decided to take holidays!

Cheers!

Not exactly. There is a limiter in that we pretty much need someone who actually owns the Bestiary though, as the PRD, while complete on the general rules, is nowhere near "usable" when it comes to monsters.

Out of curiosity: does anyone have a particular kind of character, class/race combo, they were hoping to play depending on the game? Of course one can never be absolutely sure what will strike your fancy until you see what kind of campaign it is going to be but I would be interested to know if anyone is fairly set. Personally I tend to vacillate from day to day. That is why I tend to have a thousand and one concepts, and why I am usually pretty comfortable being the one that fills in a missing role.

Is "All of them" a valid answer? LOL

I've got an alchemist set up who's ripe to be an excelent primary healer. He even uses alchemy to heal people during rests, rather than Medicine.

It's knocking in my head that it might not be too difficult to at least download one of the PF2 adventures to run. There has to be a one shot or standalone out there, right? Or at least the first "book" of the AP, maybe? That might not be too difficult? I haven't read the GM parts of the book yet, though.
