PF2E So... Anyone Thinking Of Running A PF2 Game?

I ran some of the playtest. Seems to me that it shouldn't be too hard to run a short adventure. I haven't looked into it, but I expect that they are available.

There are two. The Fall of Plaguestone is a standalone adventure. Hellknight Hill is the first adventure in the Age of Ashes AP. Could probably give Plaguestone a try.

I agree. I ran a four hour Game Day adventure in (what was it) six months or more? To be fair, I added a few bits. A short adventure works best here.

In any case I have an overkill take on a PF2 character sheet, though I imagine some might prefer to use one of the ones people were using for the playtest (or a simpler one of their own design). This was an attempt at adapting the official character sheet, :p .

I've just taken to using Mythweavers. Their PF2 sheet isn't finished yet, and for some reason it has a section for Touch AC. But it's doing the trick for me and is mostly editable. Including the title lines of some of the text blocks on the last page.

I am happy to see other systems being played here but I kind of worry that it might be an indicator of the health of Pathfinder when in the month after the new edition release multiple other games are launched while nothing happens with their system.

I think it's because how hard it is to learn the new rules? When you are jumping editions, it's super easy to think that "rule 23" is the same as in the old system. So it's almost as much work as learning pathfinder from scratch, which is quite the undertaking.

And starting a campaign, no matter what the system is, takes time, effort and creativity. You can learn the basics of Troika! in 5 minutes and the GLOG in ten, but creating a good game for them are the true challenge, not rule mastery.

Most of the combat rules are similar to everything you have in PF1 and D&D. Cover, area of effect, etc. (Though cover is more fiddly with lesser -1, standard -2, and greater -4). The biggest difference is action economy. At least overall. Some classes like spellcasting is more fiddly.

I think I will go ahead and throw up Plaguestone to run. I've read the first two acts in the adventure and it seems pretty good, well-written and clear.

Adventures were always Paizo's strong suit, I believe. I can't say I have a lot of experience with them though. I never played PF1. I was not a big fan of 3.5. I mean, it had some really good bits, but encouraged too much rules lawyering and power gaming (for my taste and in my experience).

I have a feeling that ultimately PF2 will be too fussy for me, but I can't be sure without giving it a go. I like a lot of what they are trying to do.

Let's give it a shot, shall we?
