So, are my English writings readable, of tolerable style?

You work for the CIA right? :)

There are signs that indicate he's a non-native, but I don't know if they'd be noticed by very many people reading fantasy/sci-fi. I'm sure I make more mistakes in my posts, for example.

The kind of mistakes you see in a post can tell you if it was written by a non-native, and if you're good enough at foreign languages, you can even guess the native language.

I sometimes read posts (and often mine :o ) who suspiciously look french :)

I dunno - am I just reading more closely than everyone else?
No, I also think Turanil's posts have a few regular quirks--I'd never mistake him for a native English speaker as is. Then again, if I recall correctly from some other threads, the two of us may have a heightened sense of linguistic awareness relative to the population at large.

On the other hand, Psionicist's post above has no clues that I can find that he's a non-native speaker of English... except of course for the fact that he's constantly telling us that.

I think we've all answered Turanil's question 'Is his English in a readable tolerable style', and the answer is 'Yes', even if there are some perhaps some non-native quirks (that hardly anyone would notice), and most relavently, Turanil doens't use a lot of slang.

Turanil, I'd really recommend you start a story hour, or post some stuff you've written up. (Hey, do we not have some sort of 'creative writing forum?)

That'd provide a larger basis for some feedback.

That's a really good idea. Maybe if enough people ask, we can get a forum in the Non-RPG Specific group.
