So, as a conclusion, a rogue is proficient in Kukuri or not?

Since medium rogues are proficient in rapier, I allow small rogues to be proficient in small rapiers - which when scaled down are essentially the same as a kukri, stat-wise.

They're not at all similar except in damage and criticals...

Kukri: Tiny Exotic Slashing weapon. 1d4, 18-20x2.
Halfling Rapier: Small Medium Piercing weapon. 1d4, 18-20x2.

I don't know that I've put much thought into it, but I think, in my mind, Dagger (any type) meant that the rogue could select one type of dagger in which to be proficient, so one character might be proficient in a standard dagger, while another would be skilled with a punching dagger. Good question.

I like that idea however, I thinkk I would allow a rogue to be proficient with the kukri, so what if it's exotic, it's a small weapon and is sneaky that's the point right??

They're both finessable for Small characters and have the same damage and criticals; those are the statistics that most players in games I play who want to be proficient in kukri care about.

Sure, there are differences in damage type and modifiers that kick in for disarms and such, but for most players I imagine those factors are not hugely important. I didn't really consider the Exotic/Martial difference to matter since we're talking about a specific class getting automatic proficiency.

I say no. You aren't proficient with an exotic weapon unless it is specically listed for your class, the way the hand crossbow is.

And hopefully it will be moot soon anyway.
