D&D 5E So here’s a thing... War of the Burning Sky 5E

Could we talk you into breaking it down into smaller chunks for print like Zeitgeist did? I kept looking at the POD for the 3.5 version, but I can't imagine it would do well with over a thousand pages.

Also, any more news or hints that you want to share on this? Maybe an idea on when we'll hear more? Please? Maybe as an early Christmas gift?

We are still looking at all the options, so take this with a grain of salt...

I am looking at screen and printer-friendly options for letter and A4 paper to start. When everything is released, there likely would be a bundle that includes all the PDFs. I would also like a POD option for each of the chapters and an omnibus. The 3.5 omnibus clocked in at 712 pages, and I think OBS premium hardcover limit is 840

I am currently working through Chapter 1, the campaign guide, and the player's guide. Chapter 1 and the campaign guide are largely completed and need a bit of polish. We are making sure everything looks good and the player and monster options make as much sense as possible in a 5e context. I am currently working on the player's guide and would like to have the first draft wrapped up this weekend. Here is a preview I had posted in the Xanathar spell identification threads of one of the new feats that a GM might allow a player to take:

Spellduelist
Prerequisite: The ability to cast at least one spell
You have studied the art of spell dueling, perhaps under the famed evoker Gabal in the small school he maintains in Gate Pass, or at the Lyceum academy in Seaquen. Thanks to extensive practice with dueling other spellcasters, you gain the following benefits:
•You know how to convince an onlooker that you’re casting a spell when you actually are not. You can pretend to cast a spell as a bonus action. The spell must be on your spell list, and any onlooker who would use a reaction to you casting a spell — such as by attempting to counterspell, taking an attack of opportunity, or performing a readied action — must make a Wisdom (Insight) check contested by your Charisma (Deception) check to realize the deception, or their reaction is used upon a failure as if you had actually cast the spell. Opportunity attacks and readied actions are taken, and their action for counterspell is used but the spell slot is not as there is not a valid target. You have advantage on the Charisma (Deception) check. You cannot cast any other spell on this turn other than the spell you were pretending to cast or a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action. If you actually cast a spell this turn, anyone who wants to use a reaction must have decided to contest your deception and succeeded.
•You have advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks to determine if another spellduelist is pretending to cast a spell and Intelligence (Arcana) checks to identify a spell being cast.

I am hoping to have chapter 1, the campaign guide, and the player's guide wrapped up and ready for the New Year at the latest. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: Oh, and I am looking to have a Roll20 release up somewhere around the new year as well.

Ooh, how could I miss this announcement? That's awesome!

Tormyr, Morrus, are you doing a 1:1 conversion of either the 3.5 or the 4e version of the campaign? Or do you plan on doing minor (or even major) plot changes or clear-ups?

I am planning to primarily pull from the 3.5 complete campaign release, although I have pulled some of the art from the 3.5 and 4e individual chapters as it is higher resolution in places. 5e Lines up better with 3.5. PM me if you would like to discuss any plot changes.
