So how does Free RPG Day work?

I desperately need new dice for our new weekly game (yay!) and I was thinking of taking a drive to one of the NSLGS (not so local game stores) in Philly to see what was up tomorrow. Having never done Free Comic Book Day I'm just curious how this works. Do you just show up and they give you stuff or what?

Get there early. There is a good amount of stuff in a kit, but it can go fast. Call ahead (tonight) and make sure the store is participating.

Note that the retailers appear to be able to do whatever they want with the product. One of the LGSes is going the free gift with purchase route and also letting you buy the Free RPG Day material, while others appear to be simply giving it away first come first served.

And the other posters are right. Stores can do whatever they want with the free stuff. Stores did both "one per customer" and "take as much as you want" last year. It will be interesting to see how quickly the free releases show up on Ebay.
