So I have no clue what to play :/

First Post
My character, a cleric/binder, died last session. That's all fine and good, but now I have no clue what to play. All of the bases are covered; we have two tanks, a healer, trapfinder, and mage.

I guess I'm looking for inspiration; game is on sunday, and I still have nothing to play. I haven't come up with a character concept that I find truly exciting or interesting. Having all the roles filled means that I don't have to play any certain class, which is good. I have some good stats: 18, 18, 14, 14, 13, 13. The game is 5th level using the pathfinder rpg, although the DM is open to most things 3.5, with the exception of psionics and Bo9S.

Help please

Binder2/Warlock3

Bind Naeberus. Now take the feat Dark Speech and learn the invocation Summon Swarm.

On second though, don't.

Try a Bard or an archer. Or a Bard Archer. If all the roles are filled, you're free to pick a 5th wheel type build/class. Would you want to try monk? Is there any class you've yet to play that you might want to give a shot? Even if it's something another person's already playing, I'm sure you could build your PC differently so they don't seem identical.

Or build a Roleplay based character instead of a game-based character. For instance a blind Ranger, or see if the DM will allow you to play a twin-peg legged Goblin rogue.

Perhaps you might want to give a try to the Pathfinder Advanced Player's Guide Playtest classes, the Inquisitor is pretty damn good for a support role, their spellcasting has a similar progression as the bard, althought it's divine source. Plus, roguis skill list at 6 skills/level, domain acces and all their nasty stuff (like Judgments, which are plain awesome), seriously, who's not to like?

Now, if you don't feel like you want to play a church guy, the Witch class may pack some additional punch to your party since Hexes have really good potential too. Besides, two full arcane spellcasters is never a bad thing for any adventurer group.

Even the Oracle has a lot to offer to your party, and you won't miss your previous spellcasting that much since her list is the same than the cleric. Well, maybe you will since it's very limited, but even so, spontaneous casting is a good thing, and the mysteries and revelations stuff is quite interesting from roleplaying view as it is from mechanics view.

You can download them from Paizo's page if you have an account.

Arcane Archer! Well, aspiring arcane archer, Fighter 4/Wizard 1.

Feats: Weapon Focus (longbow) (B), Point Blank Shot (B), Precise Shot (B), Scribe Scroll (B), Weapon Specialization (longbow), Improved Initiative, Deadly Aim. True strike + Deadly aim is a slow windup but a hard-hitting attack. Maybe Vital Strike at 7th level.

My suggestion list is somewhat similar to the one of Herzog's.
My list does not include something (IMHO) too complex or using rules too different from core rules (say, psionics or ToB
classes). But if you prefer such a challenge, they can be a good change, too.

A. Warlock
Simple and yet effective. Is different enough from other PCs. And at 5th-level you can have 8 ranks in UMD and can take 10. That means you can use spell trigger items of any class. Have fun!

B. Bard
Having 5 other PCs and all the must-have roles are filled? This is truly a good chance to play a Bard! A bard is a great addition when a PC party is relatively big. And in emergency, you can fill the role of other characters (say, healer or mage).

C. Duskblade
At level 5th, a Duskblade can already proficient in medium armor. Can act as a secondary tank and a very versatile attacker.

D. Archer
Maybe Scout/Ranger with Swift Hunter feat. Or even pure fighter with tons of Archery feats may an interesting option which you will not usually do.

E. Monster Race
Rolling up a new character of ECL 5 is a good chance to play a LA +1 to +2 race. Catfolk or Half-Ogre, maybe?
