So I'm thinking of running Tomb of Horrors after RttTOEE

Well, the thing is definitely a meatgrinder. But then again, it isn't as bad as most people seem to think. If a party tries to do it in a single walk through, and if they aren't smart, then yes, they will all die. However, a simple thing like summoning a monster and having it walk down the ahll ahead of you will avoid 90% of the traps.

Other things to look out for: if someone touches something and is instantly destroyed, or at least has been placed out of all posible communication range, you might want to think twice about touching it yourself.

I find it really hard to belive that an entire party died in the first hallway, unlessof course they all jumped into the green devil's mouth, in which case they deserve it.

Voadam: The end enemy cannot take over a PC. However, he can easily destroy them, and he is hard to fight. There's actually very little auto-death stuff from walking in the wrong place. There are a few places where playing around with the wrong things will get you killed. But you can always experiment. The Tombof Horrors is a place where just trying to stroll on through will get you killed, whereas thinking will save your butt.

DocMoraiarty: Reserch? Why the heck would they have to research hard? Wouldn't it be easier to cast a Legend Lore or two, a few Divinations, and some Communes? Finding out how to fight the Demi-lich (or even that fighting the demi-lich isn't necessary if all you want is his treasure) shouldn't be hard for a party to do.

Without the research you won't even know the Demi-Lich is there. Its kind of hard to cast the proper Legend Lores etc to get the information on how to beat it or avoid it otherwise. I would at least require a very specific Legend Lore to get information on such a powerful creature.

His very power and ancient might would probably make it hard to gather magical intel on him. This would leave mundane searching.

Unless of couse you do the intelligent thing and run after your first battle with him, then cast the spells. also, Lgend Lore is specificlly designed to deal with things that are "legendary", not unlike our friend the demi-lich. Now, if it said anywhere in the adventure the the thing was protected from Legend Lores, then sure, I could see where it would be protected. But as such, it doesn't, and any DM who robs a high-level party of their most powerful information gathering tools is as much the cause of their deaths in the tomb as they are.
