So my cousin gets beaten black and blue

Bull crap. Anyone who does something like that deserves an ass whooping. I'd take a belt to his ass till he couldn't walk. And then go stomp his father's ass.

It doesn't matter if he'd been treated badly. Boo-hoo, his parent's neglected him, so he beats up a girl. Grrrr.
I was under the impression it was a group home for the mentally and physically handicapped. He may well have serious mental promblem which the staff should be managing to protect him and others. Said staff and/or administration is at fault when something like this happens, both legally and morally.

If you really get off on imagining abusing a handicapped 10 year old, thats pretty sad.

As it turns out it was a home with a contract with the government. It was permanently closed with the entire staff suspended. A small measure of justice I think. Thank you to the RCMP.

In that case, I retract my statement. I was under the impression it was an average 10 year old kid getting off on abusing a young girl.

I got the same impression. When the OP said 'wandered into the wrong area', I took that to mean she wandered out of the home and into a rough part of town. But with hindsight, the wrong area of the home seems more likely.

lol

The young girl looks up with wonder and amazement at the balding, seedy sleazebag who opens his long coat revealing a myriad of wares and says "Hey kid, you wanna Wonka bar?" lol

seriously though, I am glad something was done. my wife's cousin has cerebral palsey and some other serious issues (she can't talk, can't walk, etc) and is stuck in a wheel chair for the rest of her life. We as her family do our best to keep her from getting hurt, and when it does happen, boy it can get your ire in your craw quicker than a fly to a corpse.

I will let my group know and be assured our hearts are with you and your family.

What an awful situation! I hope indeed that the 10-year-old gets some serious attention: if he doesn't learn to control his violent impulses now, then he's going to become a truly terrifying adult.

Del, my best wishes for your cousin, and for her family: they're in a very difficult situation. Do you think the parents are going to be able to find alternate arrangements that will allow them the occasional respite?

It sounds like a good thing that the group home was shut down.

I'm realived to hear that. (hopeully there will be further investigation into which members of the staff played a starring role in the negligence). While I respect your family's choice not to sue or press charges for their own gain, in a situation like this their personal tragedy was also potentially a symptom of a dangerous situation for a lot of other childen. I hate to think of how many other cases might have been written off as accidents, with kids who can't contridict them. :(

Thank all of you for the good words.

I haven't heard recently on her condition. I too wonder how many kids might have been hurt before this glaring and wanton violence was seen there.
