So tell me what is so special about Star Wars Saga Edition?

There are no "saves" in SWSE. There are only defenses, which are 10 + heroic level + stat bonus + class bonus. Base Threshold is equal to your Fortitude defense.

Right... I just used the old terminology wrong. Anyway, is the base Threshold = 10 + Con + class bonus to Fort defense, or just Con + class bonus to Fort defense?

I gather that it's a vast improvement over the old d20 Star Wars RPG. So far as I can tell (and I have asked here and elsewhere) it doesn't seem to very mechanically compatible with any other d20 material (including older d20 Star Wars material). So basically, if you likes Star Wars but were dissatisfied with the older Star Wars d20 (as mnay apparently were), Star Wars Saga is for you. If you're looking for a dialed-back version of d20 that can be widely applied, I gather that there are much better options available.

Nothing. It's a broken and over-complicated game that claims to be streamlined.

But who am I to say? Waste your own money on it, if it makes you feel better.

This is not at ALL accurate. SWSE is very backwards-compatible. Offhand, I can only thing of one thing that explicitly won't work in it: Skill Tricks from Complete Adventurer. Feats (except those obsoleted by simplifications to the rules), skills, classes, monsters and races are all pretty much 100% compatible, except classes will require a minor change to get their saves right. It's not at all like True20, which basically requires a complete rebuild of most d20 material.

Now, something that was broken or badly design in d20 Modern or D&D isn't going to magically become good game design in SWSE, so incorporate at your own risk.

SWSE material is not necessarily usable in other d20 systems, however.

As the saying goes, "I wuz in UR thr34d, p0st1n UR 4dvic3." ;)

Seriously, though, I wrote pretty much the same thing in your thread in d20 Modern, d20 System and OGL Games on this subject (in which, admittedly, I seemed to be disagreeing with at least one other poster). Very sorry you missed it. :(

EDIT: Also, what you were very specifically asking for seemed to be a way to port Saga materials BACK to other d20 systems - and I have neither experience in, nor confidence in the viability of, that. So maybe you spent wisely after all. :)

To repeat myself...

"defenses, which are 10 + heroic level + stat bonus + class bonus. Base Threshold is equal to your Fortitude defense."

EDIT: Sorry, just... gets a little frustrating saying it repeatedly. :D;;;

(gross over simplification!)...

Most of it isn't suitable for D&D - the Force ain't magic...

I love the way the talent trees give Star Wars characters so much flexibility, but if you use them to replace class abilities then I don't think its D&D any more.
I think that sums it up pretty well. The SWSE rules work very well for Star Wars. They are far to simplistic for D&D (IMO,YMMV, etc.).

Give an example of where SWSE is arguably more complex than the game that preceded it (SWd20 Revised)?
