So..what are you watching tonight?

Full Metal Alchemist? that seems cool. I've never heard of it, can you give me more information please?
Fullmetal Alchemist is an anime that is currently running on Cartoon Network and has just begun releasing on DVD here in the US. It is set in another world that resembles the real world in the 1920s - they have cars and telephones, but not a lot of high tech. 'Alchemy' is considered a science, but we would call it magic. The main characters are two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are both talented alchemists. The story follows them as they try to fulfill some very important goals and learn more about both alchemy and the political situation in their world. The title refers to Edward Elric's nickname, which is given him for reasons that will become obvious if you watch the series but I don't want to spoil it for you.

The series had a lot of emotional resonance for me and I thought it was very well written, although it does occasionally devolve into superdeformed characters and some of the sillier aspects of anime.

As far as what I'm watching tonight: I don't know what I'll be watching, but last night I watched 4 episodes of The Venture Brothers, which just came out on DVD this week. :)

The only thing I've watched recently (a couple of days ago) were Sahara and The Legend of Zorro.

Sahara was really good. Better than I expected. The Legend of Zorro wasn't as good, but was still okay. It was definitely corny in places and the fight scenes weren't as good as in the first one.

Planning on going to see X-Men III this weekend. The last movie I saw in theatres was Munich. Man, that is a harsh movie (in a good way).

Cheers!

My uncle let me borrow seasons 1-4 of Farscape. I'm almost through season 2 and am enjoying it so far. The dialoge is a bit silly at times, but I like what they've done with the different aliens.

I just finished American History X which I watched for the first time tonight. I have to put off the deep "meaning of life" movies until I can get in the right mood. Man, it's taken a long time to get in the right mood for American History X.

Last night I watched the first 4 episodes of Doctor Who - The Green Death, plus some of the special features. It had a mockumentary about the events in the episode that was really well done.

Tonight I play D&D so I'm not watching anything but dice rolling and minis moving. :D

W00t!
Just finished "Biogenesis", an exellent episode of the spectacular sixth season of the X-files.
I can´t find the proper words for how much this show rocks, amazing.

Last night I finally broke the shrinkwrap on the Back to the Future Trilogy and watched all 3 in a row, which I've wanted to do for a while. I haven't seen the first or second in many years and I remembered why I loved these movies so much. Classics were the first two and the third was an interesting epilogue and a much better movie when viewed exactly after the 2nd. It's a weaker movie on it's own but a fitting ending to a great adventure through time.

I miss the adventure movies of that time period. Not even LotR has captured the fancy of BttF, Star Wars (original), Indy or their contemporaries. For me, the only movies that come close, off the top of my head, are made by Pixar.

And I didn't know it until I watched the extras but I had no idea that Micheal J. Fox did the first BttF movie while also taping Family Ties. He'd finish up a day's shooting on the TV show and the movie studio would sent a car for him and he'd do BttF the rest of the day. 2 hours sleep, maybe and then repeat. Wow.

I should have figured this out on my own since I was watching the show at the time the movie came out...
