So, what do you think of Gleemax?

As someone who has missed the forum migration and now has to wait until tomorrow (at least) to log in, I was wondering what the impression of those of you is who have managed to switch over in time.

From my experience, it is more graphic-laden than before, thereby slower to load, thereby crap and making me less likely I'll ever go there willingly. I've avoided the DDI page like the spellplague because it was chalk full of slowloading junk.

Why do companies believe they need to tart up their webpages with transfer-speed-choking eyecandy junk? *headexplode*

Not everyone is on 1.5 Mbps broadband! *breathe* *breathe* *breathe*

Loads just fine for me on dialup. Way the heck out in the middle of the rural lands.

Buncha whiners.

(fakeedit to contribute: You can skip the migration process by clicking the 'Forgot Password' link. It'll send you an email and you can log right in and see the... well, nothingness that's there.)

I'm a little iffy on the design... it doesn't scale well to my resolution, and the text seems kind of scrunched in because of it, except in the blogs themselves.

There, of course, are lots of technical errors but it's an alpha test so that's to be expected.

Ease-of-use just isn't there yet, so I think I'll wait before pointing some friends to it.

I see great promise, though. If they fix the bugs and change some of the design elements to give better ease of use, I can see spending a lot of time there.

I've received a tip on RPGNet on how to circumvent the "forum migration" issue. Just click on "Forgot your password?", enter your email address, and you will get a new password with which you can log in.

eh, i don't care for glee max that much but enworld gives me a hard-on for d&d.

I came here when i played my first druid. the first thing that came to my mind was.... "hmmm me not know what thinks of intelegent talk?"

It was alot nicer then the wizards boards to say the least. I feel like I am talking with real people when I'm at enworld. On wizards forum your just another person for me to flame.

It doesn't even appear to have a facility to add friends, which strikes me as a bare minimum in a social networking site, as without it you don't have a social network.

Worse while I can see your blog that you linked to there doesn't even seem to be a link to your profile from that page. I would have expected your name to be clickable.

If however I find the summary of all blogs and locate the snippet of yours from within that list both your avatar and your name are clickable and lead to your profile.

And well the website appears to be loading fine I can't seem to get to "my page" or check if I'm logged in or not, or create a blog post of my own.

If you go to the http://www.gleemax.com/ the "sign in" option is off to one side where as on every other page it's called login and clearly at the top. Navigation needs dramatically improving.

Why is it called Gleemax alpha?

It is actually a beta test, since alpha test specifically refers to testing in house. Maybe they are calling it alpha because they skipped the in house testing phase....

Actually, it does - if you go to a user profile page, it does have an "Add Favorite" feature which seems to work just fine.

Yeah, I wondered about that too - and mentioned it in relevant forum. Let's see what they are going to do about that - after all, this is still the alpha test of the system...

Then you are probably not logged in. If you are logged in and go to the "My Page" link, you should have a "Create Posts" entry in your Control Panel.
