So, what do you think of Gleemax?

Actually, it does - if you go to a user profile page, it does have an "Add Favorite" feature which seems to work just fine.

Oh so your "friends" are "favourites" in this site. Silly me I thought friends were friends and favourites was a term used to describe websites.

Then you are probably not logged in. If you are logged in and go to the "My Page" link, you should have a "Create Posts" entry in your Control Panel.

If I go to my page or Sign in.

I get

While trying to retrieve the URL: accounts.gleemax.com:443

The following error was encountered:

* Connection Failed

The system returned:

(110) Connection timed out

The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again.

or the equally reassuring...

The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: accounts.gleemax.com:443

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name for accounts.gleemax.com

The dnsserver returned:

Server Failure: The name server was unable to process this query.

This means that:

The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
Check if the address is correct.

It is actually a beta test, since alpha test specifically refers to testing in house. Maybe they are calling it alpha because they skipped the in house testing phase....

OMG! they slightly misused the term alpha test.

Well, the term "Friends" on LiveJournal and the like was often controversial - some people object to this term because they associate it with friends they know in real life, and not just strangers they met online. Effectively, it works out the same, though "Favorites" is a bit more neutral.

It's an interesting first shot, I guess. I created a profile (It's the same name I have here, BTW) and listed my gaming interests (I find it interesting that non-Wizards and non-d20 games are included in this; the list is far, far from useful much less exaustive). I did a couple of blog posts.

I am hopelessly lost and confused :) I guess there are others out there blogging, but outside of 'recent posts', I have no idea where they are. I can't even see my own posts on 'my page' like I could with, say, Blogger or Livejournal. I added some designer blogs to my favorites - and finding those was a real bitch - but it doesn't tell me when they have new posts.

I think they were right to call this 'alpha' because I'd certainly expect a whole lot more even from a beta-test site.

Put links to the WotC staff blogs in a single easy to find location so I don't have to search for them or bookmark them.

No offense, but I'm not interested in reading Joe Random's personal blog. I'm only interested in reading the WotC staff blogs.

Another thing I just discovered: I can't comment on comments, only delete them. That is .. not very useful at all. Jurgen brought up a point I wanted to address, and another poster brought up a totally different one I'd want to address seperately. Grrr.

No? I've replied to a comment Jürgen made in my blog, and have carried on a couple discussion with Merric in his and mine. Just start typing in that white block at the bottom of the page.

It doesn't thread the comments, so conversations might get a little jumbled. I should be making notes about things they should fix.
