Here's amazon's link to "Season 2.0"
Ah, I see. And re-reading my earlier response, I guess WizardRu was referring to this 1/2 season release as the money grab.

I guess you could see it that way, but I don't have any problem with it, since it can allow new viewers to get up to speed before the last half of season two. With Netflix, OnDemand, the new iPod video service, even Bittorrent, the way shows are marketed (including their DVD release times) is changing rapidly. Not neccessarily a bad thing.

Plus, it looks like this disc set will include the extended version of "Pegusas", which, if you''ve listened to the Ron Moore podcasts, they had to cut a lot out of to fit into an hour (even though it's a cliff hanger.)

Indeed. It's mostly based on my cynicism from their handling of the Season 1 DVD releasal. There are two versions that came out only a few weeks apart and they were clearly engineered to screw the uninformed consumer. The later release was cheaper and had more material (including the original miniseries and Ron Moore's commentaries). I don't begrudge them making money (hell, I encourage it!)...but it smacked of dirty pool on Best Buy and Universal's parts.

I just thought promiting the half-way point of the second season as the 'Season Finale' was a tad silly, but I don't begrudge them their marketing ploy.

I guess it just seems that the Cylons aren't really trying very hard to destroy Galactica (witness the 140 raiders breaking off the attack in Hand of God). They are evidently able to communicate with the cylons in the fleet (even to the point of ordering Boomer to wound Adama but not kill him), so they could easily jump 100+ base stars right on top of the fleet and vape Galactica.

Not the only thing that makes sense, just the best. And like I said, in Season 2, we confirmation of it (but not the particular rules of how it works). The implication is something along the lines of the cylons using different approaches to achieve their goals.

I'm not sure where you got the impression that Boomer was only trying to wound Adama; if that was her goal, she botched it mightily. As for the Cylons destroying Galactica, we know they probably could...and we know that SOME Cylons know where they are. It becomes apparent in the second season that they Cylons are FAR from omnipotent, when it comes to the Human Fleet.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is that you can't afford to think of the Cylons in logical absolutes. They have an agenda and they have a religious doctrine. That doctrine causes them some problems. It's what motivated them to nearly wipe out mankind, and it's what keeping them from finishing the job.

I can think of two reasons to release half-season DVD packages -
1-The retail price of two half seasons is higher than one full season
2-They are having cash flow problems and need to "cash in" the work they have already done.

Why do you say she botched it? He didn't die and she kept Adama out long enough to get a group to explore Kobol. Based on the firearm proficiency Caprica-Boomer displayed, at four feet away she should have easily been able to hit Adama in chest and then the head. Instead she got two gut wounds. The Cylons wanted them to find Earth (based on their letting Boomer destroy that base star and giving Starbuck a ship capable of returning to Caprica and teaching Starbuck how to use the FTL drive) and, at the time, Adama was standing in the way.

While I will admit that there seem to be some logic holes in the show right now, my take on Boomer not killing Adama was partly based on her personality not being completely agreeing with the order to kill him. My impression was that she was conflicted about her order and that her "weak" personality kept her from being as accurate and analytical about executing it. Maybe I'm just finding an excuse...
