I have to pimp my sheet a bit. :P

My SSA-X2 D&D Character Sheet is PDF form based, and thus you can enter you character data into the sheet within Acrobat, and the sheet will do the calculations for you. The sheet has many features for managing lists of equipment, spells, weapons, etc., and you can change the sheet layout from a basic 4 pages to a colossal 27, depending on your needs. I'va also been able to create a sheet edition which will allow you to save you data even if you're using Acobat Reader (a feature no other PDF sheet I've come across has yet).

You can check it out at: SSA-X2.com

If you have a slower computer, I recommend turning calculations OFF while entering character data. I'm in the process of rectifying the slowdown for the next revision.

<end shameless plug>

I like his sheet as well.
Just waiting for his release of the main, spell, and psionic sheets seperately.
And yes if you have a slower computer turn the auto calculations off.

My players are fond of my sheets, or so they tell me. I uploaded mine into This Thread a while back. Post #11 I think. I borrowed heavily from others I found online. Some of those mentioned already are great, and were great sources of inspiration in my design.

The best sheet is often the one you make. Regardless of the quality. It could be blank tablet paper, a document you made in a professional desktop publishing program, or anything in between. It'll have everything you need to know, and it'll all be where you expect it to be.

I've created one from several others. I forget who originally created the base, but it was nice and since then I basically use it, then modify it for each character.

Its attached.

My favorite:

High cost (between $4 to $5) but it's an excellent multi-page character sheet, designed for your core classes. The description says it all. 16 pages, and it's bound well enough to protect your favorite character.

This and a copy machine will keep you going for many campaigns. We even managed to convert it to Dragonstar without too much trouble!

EDIT: Please note, I'm as computer illiterate as it gets. I prefer character sheets that don't 'click and point' back at me. :)

Myself, I tend to prefer Mad Irishman's. I have concluded that for character sheets, layers rock. Need a fighter character sheet? Turn off the Turn Undead & spell layers. It's sometimes a bit fiddly to get right, though; and I wish there was a way to save the state of the layers using just Reader.

Ema's are neat -- except for that horrificially long list of feats. I made up a 1st level fighter, put it on one of those sheets -- the next week, I couldn't recall if I had Power Attack, and tried to look. Picking two checked boxes out of the that huge list, at a quick glance, was more trouble than it's worth. I want a character sheet to keep track of what my character has now, not give me a complete menu of everything he could get someday. Plus, the long list makes the layout so cramped that writing in a feat that isn't listed is a pain.

I use Ema's for D&D exclusively. Her sheets rock!

For D20 Modern, however, I prefer Mad Irishmen. The sheet is entirely customizable and thus applicable for Past/Modern/and Future. Also you can choose whether it has VP or HP. The only bad thing is that you can't save your edit. You just have to do the entire sheet at once and print because it's on acrobat.
