Also, if one is not satisfied with WotC settings, one will have to wait quite a long time before being able to continue campaigning in their favorite world.

Or you could buy the Pirate's Guide to Freeport, which is a systemless setting book, and use it as the basis of a 4E campaign right now.

I guess if I decide to go 4e, I'll wait to see who supports it because I hate the delve and will not waste another dollar on a module using that format.

I find myself wondering if, as a result of their obvious catering to the WOW/MMORPG crowd, if they are actually okay with not only having far fewer 3pps creating stuff, but also not producing as many adventures themselves.

I think about the MMORPG 'grind', and how people play the same quests over and over again...maybe WOTC thinks that people will be playing Keep on the Shadowfell 20-30 times, just to see how quickly they can run it or something.

I have become much more at peace with my decision to remain on 3.x and True20...if 3pps don't create stuff I need, I'll just write it myself I guess. I'll still be better off, it appears, than 4E folks will be in terms of content until Autumn.

Same goes for the Kingdoms of Kalamar Campaign Setting book.

But I wouldn't want to ruin two good campaign settings like that!

There's no Monday option... is that not valid?

It was snark about WotC not meeting any of its previous promised dates on GSL-related issues.

(Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday all were deliberately not included as "valid" entries; the earliest available entries are all late in the week.)

Thank you for excellent suggestions, however, if I'm reading yoour posts correctly, both choices contain statless material. Scarred Lands books, at their core, contain enough crunchless content to provide me with sufficient basis for creating a campaing.

Unfortunately, the devil's in the missing details - 4E, for example, changes the role of wizards and subsequently introduces far reaching consequences into the structure of power of the game world.

Since I'm really low on my spare gaming time (my current campaign has been written over 4 years ago... I'm just filling in the blanks or developing additional story arcs depending on player actions) stats are the key.

Of those two mentioned here, Freeport would be preferrable as a intermediate solution, while our groups makes up its mind about future system (Pathinder, 4E or something else). Kalamar is more of a final solution.

Ruemere

PS. Of course, restrictivness of GSL is important, too. If it appears to hinder development of 3rd party material, 4E role will be most likely limited to shelf-filler. I have no use for vanilla system books :)

I'm running a 4E demo for my one group this Friday, and if they agree to adopt 4E that's exactly what we discussed going with this past weekend.
