Are we there yet? Any word on whether or not this is, in fact, happening today?
My assumption was that the Friday announcement of "early next week" meant "Tuesday."

If they'd been able to get everything finished on Friday, they'd have announced "Monday", so they had work to do today. Even if they finished it early today, they weren't committed to launch today, so they might as well have it go for a Tuesday publish, in case they overlooked anything.

When Scott Rouse suggested that the reason they did not release it on Friday was because they had learned not to release things at the beginning of the weekend, that made it seem to me as if they might release it today.

Though in all honesty, if it turns out to be July 4th before they release it, at this point it would be mostly par for the course. :)

No good. July 4 this year is a friday. :)

And we've been saving up all of our cool 4E plans and announcements until the GSL hits, so we can actually talk about what's coming knowing what's allowed.

... and today's debate will be about Tuesday, and what time Tuesday, and what time is it in Renton, and if it auto-hits at midnight, and if it's Renton midnight, and then we're on to Wednesday...

Just eager to finally get details, is all.

Dont get me wrong, I'm glad 4E will allow 3P support (I'm not saying "4E is open" anymore). But I really think people will look back at this 4E launch and scratch their heads and wonder what the heck was Wizards thinking. Those who arent doing that already.

To me it looks like they had a good plan but badly underestimated the resource needed to pull it off. Especially on the software side coupled with a major management change in the spring.

The whole pattern of 4th edition's release looks a lot like the experience I had (on a smaller scale) of opening and managing a NERO LARP chapter. There are a whole lot of stuff that needs to be done to open a LARP Chapter and a lot of "nice to haves" that really enhance the experience for the customer.

You don't realize what a time sink certain things are until you have to do it yourself. Because nearly all the people that help run a NERO LARP Chapter are volunteers you need to be more open about your plans than a normal business. So when reality screws things up the proverbial S*** hits the fan. The causal players are left wondering "What happening to all the neat things that I heard about when the new chapter was annouced."

so does "early" mean mid?
or
does "early" mean late?
or
does "early" mean July, August, September?

It all probably depends on how you define "next week."

On what day does a week start and is it ever really going to be next week?

:)

As an observer, I find this whole GSL process strangely fascinating. Kind of like a slow motion train wreck.

I do feel for those who have a vested financial interest in learning more and am rooting for a happy ending. :/
