So... who else has bought the new WFRP?

Jürgen Hubert

First Post
I bought it this weekend, and am slowly reading my way through it.

All in all, I must say I like it quite a bit. It has ironed out most of the bugs of the earlier edition, the new magic system rocks on toast, and the illustration are beautiful in the way they portray the ugliness of the world.

And the Rat Catcher Basic Career still has the Small But Vicious Dog. What more could I ask for?

Does the RATCATCHER still get a ratter's pole with D6 dead rats????

No, he now gets D10 dead rats! Whoo hoo!

They have done a much better job of balancing classes this time out the gate. I am still circling it, but my gyre is coming closer to the purchase. :) I have a few complaints with the system, mostly the same ones that I had with the first edition (with one exception), and solutions or work arounds for those complaints. The fact that I have already made the work arounds makes it pretty obvious how I am going to fall on this one. :p

Though I will be using the setting material from the previous edition, I do not particularly like the direction that GW has taken with their post binder history.

The Auld Grump

I got it and I'm hooked. This will definitely be the next game that I run. They cleaned up the old system considerably while leaving in everything that was cool.

I got it. The production values seem good, but I miss the book being that huge book with nothing else required, like the 1st edition was. The art is good, even though I like the less fantastic art in the previous editi..

Damn, I must be just nostalgic about the 1st edition :o

I mean that the 2nd edition is a great book! Too bad my players are expecting me to run the next campaign, and they are expecting 3E D&D :\
