So, who has Delta Green?

WHat IS this Delta Green thing?

It's weird... I've been gaming for quite a while, and thought I knew just about all of the stuff that was or is popular... I guess I was wrong. :p

Basically modern cthulhu but done in a way that makes sense for playing as opposed to reading .

In the books Lovecraft (and others) wrote, usually there is one person who slowly is exposed to something horrible. Usually they either go crazy or die and rarely do they go looking for the next big bad.

Delta Green solves that. Basically the players are part of a secret branch of the military called Delta Green. Their purpose is basically to stop the big bad...over and over again.

another way you can look at it is, it is stargate but instead of fighting the Goa'uld, you fight cultists and instead of going across the universe, you go out of the universe. ;)

Crazy... used to play a lot of Cthulu and have a friend who's a mythos nut.... but I've never (until recently) heard of this game...

Pagan is wonderful, wonderful stuff. I have almost all of it. And I'm in the special thanks in DG (both versions, I was pleased to see with the recent d20 version published; I'll have to pick that up eventually).

Relatedly-cool: Blair Reynolds is back: http://www.room308.org/

d20 DG and Countdown. Love the spin. Praying for an update to bring us to post 9-11

Thanks for the work on the wiki... I have been following on DG-list.

Not... quite.

Characters are usually not members of the military (you might be thinking about Majestic-12, the main enemy organization), but of a Federal law enforcement or intelligence agency. The FBI and the CIA represent the bulk of Delta Green members, but there are plenty of others. Furthermore,

Delta Green is an illegal conspiracy within these government organizations. They used to be a legit branch, but they got officially disbanded after they got involved in the Carpet Bombing of Cambodia. But some veterans have refused to give up the fight, and they have recruited younger agents into a loose cell structure. These guys are the player characters, and they not only have to deal with Mythos threats and evil cultists, but also hiding their clandestine activities from their superiors - not to mention the steady degradation of their mental health...

Unlike in classical Call of Cthulhu, members of Delta Green are less likely to fight the monsters of old (though that still remains a possibility) but instead humans who have embraced the Mythos in one way or another. And that opens the way for a vast range of highly disturbing human evil...

Hey Jurgen! Dunno if you remember Will Timmins, but... howdy.

You are the guy who wrote a lot of material on the End Times, right?

I have the original book and Countdown. Unfortunately, the group I'm in includes one or two folks who 'don't like horror,' so I've had to let my DG stuff lay fallow for some time now. Sniff.

It's similar with me - while my group doesn't hate horror, they prefer other games more.

Have the original, not Countdown or the d20 version.

It doesn't match my Lovecraft atmosphere preferences, but it's obviously very good if you want to power up the good guys a little bit against the mythos. It does more than that, of course, too.
