In the books Lovecraft (and others) wrote, usually there is one person who slowly is exposed to something horrible. Usually they either go crazy or die and rarely do they go looking for the next big bad.
Delta Green solves that. Basically the players are part of a secret branch of the military called Delta Green. Their purpose is basically to stop the big bad...over and over again.
another way you can look at it is, it is stargate but instead of fighting the Goa'uld, you fight cultists and instead of going across the universe, you go out of the universe.![]()
