So, who wants to know more about Magic of Incarnum?

This whole system seems a hybrid between spells and magic items. It's like having bonus-granting spells which last the whole day, or magic items which you can change every morning. The flavor is nice, but you could add that to normal spellcasting without this subsystem.

I think Diaglo is right that after OD&D there's nothing much really new. :\

I agree with Truthseeker regarding the Skarn. Andromeda was the first thing I thought of when I saw their entry. Visually, I like the skarn with their spines and the idea of being able to fold them flush to their skin, but I think they should have gone a little bit more alien-like or reptilian-like in their appearance. The rilkan should have been less human-like as well.

I agree that the mechanics for the races is weak with one exception. I thought the rilkan abilities are a small step above the other races as far as original ideas for a racial mechanic. They took a page out of the akashic class for a racial memory ability drawn from their link with incarnum that gives a bonus to knowledge skills and bardic knowledge checks - not an original mechanic or idea, but neat and somewhat flavorful.

The azurin are just humans modified to be better with incarnum by sacrificing skill points for a point of incarnum and being penalized with gaining a favored class in soulborn.

System is still getting a massive "Eehhhhhhhhhh" from me.

The whole vedic mysticism thing ... maybe it's just my irrational dislike of Indian food.

Actually, that's a detail that annoys me. I'm no expert on Aruvedic stuff, but it seems to me that what you do with your chakras is NOT to block them, or stick things into them! :p

It also kinda contradicts some other depictions of chakra in d&d as in the Mind's Eye articles, and in Hyperconscious. Probably not to hard to bridge the gap though!

I am still absorbing MOI and trying to decide how much I will or won't use, or even if I will use any of it. Change my mind daily...
