Social media stats of big RPG brands

interesting thread ...altho in fairness i think paizo in particular uses their own site far more extensively than wotc

Well, yeah. Websites are another thing entirely. I was more curious which companies used social media and how much. :)

I would surmise that WOTC got a large % of those likes from the 4E Heroes of Neverwinter facebook game.

Ah, now that I never considered. Did that require liking their D&D page, though? It was separate their D&D page, so it seems unlikely, but I could be wrong. I think it has its own likes.

I am almost positive you had to not only LIKE Heroes of Neverwinter you also had to LIKE Dungeons and Dragons.... i think you got crystals or something... overall wasnt a terribad game.

Morrus yeah and i think it's interesting but we can't just look at social media in a vacuum. if say paizo is engaging their customers directly (thru website) then this might explain the disparity in numbers. without an explanation we can't read much into the figures (other than wotc is roughly 15 times more popular with facebook users than paizo :D). again what if instead of going to paizo facebook...paizo customers were actually going to the publisher's website-buying books and interacting with other fans.

the other companies numbers do not surprise tho...smaller companies smaller fanbases.

I'm measuring how much companies invest in social media, not how popular a game is. :)
Why is that interesting (to you)?
Are you trying to decide if/how much to invest yourself to advertize, e.g. O.L.D. and N.E.W.?

Like TrippyHippy, I'd be much more interested in attempts to measure popularity.
