Solo Swarms?

Is there a particular reason why you couldn't make a solo swarm monster, or why it would be a bad idea? Has anyone tried it in a live game yet?

Well, the Lamia and Larva mage are both elite swarms, don't see why throwing a template on one of those would break the game.

I personally think it's a kick-ass cool idea. Especially if the swarm has some kind of hive mind and can telepathically communicate with the PCs...and anyone it kills becomes part of the swarm...

i.e...

Swarm Healing, At-Will, Immediate Interrupt
Trigger: When someone damaged by the swarm during this encounter dies.
Effect: The Swarm heals Constitution points of damage.
Secondary Effect: The Swarm gains a level, recharge 5-6.

There are at least a few good elite swarms.

Like the needlefang drake swarm for example.

Yes...I know the book doesn't say they are elite...but trust me, they are
