Solo Tabletops? Gaming without a GM?

Abandoned Arts

First Post
Are there any decent solo or co-op (GM-less) tabletops out there?

If so, what's your favorite and why? Ideally, I'm looking for something that plays a bit like a roguelike, but any solo-friendly, no-GM tabletop game will do.

Thanks in advance!

I assume he's talking about these boardgamegeek.com/boardgamefamily/9547/dungeons-and-dragons-adventure-system-board-games
which are fun, but a bit pricey. I seem to recall Tunnels and Trolls featuring solo play rules. I'd say look around, chances are someone's made solo or GMless group rules for most popular games.

Do You Dare to Dream? includes a solo framework where you add flesh to the bones and set off with your system of choice. The Book of Free RPG Tables and Templates can add some of the flesh/ encounters quickly with outdoor encounters, traps and more. Both are free - details here.

There's also Treasure, which has solo and team play built in. However, it's an on-going experiment/ gets changed. As it is the tabletop version takes a while to get inside, as it needs images as examples at the start - to make it clearer when talking about the option of using images. I've put the tabletop side of Treasure on the backburner, but it's being developed as a solo game system.
