Some feats should be two??

I was thinking that some of the feats should actually be separated into two feats.

Mostly this involves armed and unarmed versions.

For example, I think the following might be better suited as two feats:

Expertise (Armed and Unarmed)

Disarm (Armed and Unarmed)

Power Attack (Armed and Unarmed)

This is basically more of a realism kinda thing.... and I know some people don't think realism needs to be a part of d20. :)

Do you think this is just making it extra complicated, or do you think this is good?

Well, I like the idea, but with the ridiculous amount of feats in existence, I too would have to vote for "extra complicated".

If one were to cut down the number of feats to those just listed in the PHB, then I would say, "Sure".

I think that the feats as they are are fine. However, taking two feats and making them one would not be too out of line, especially with the large number of feats in existance.

I see absoutly no point, unless you wish to hurt monks though denial of their ability to use both armed and unarmed attacks. (Monks need weapons to overcome DR into the mid levels). And it adds 1 more layer of complication.

Though, as a point of refrence, I'm also against not letting people use Two Weapon Fighting with ranged weapons, so I suppose I like my feats dirty, simple and effective.

i just don't let certian feats to apply to unarmed combat (or any form of combat in which the character is not proficient enough in ie airbourne or underwater) unless the character is a monk or has the improved unarmed combat feat or whatever else i decide he needs.

by the reasoning that splits the feats between armed and unarmed, you would pretty much have to split the feats between weapon types as well. there is no way you can tell me that disarming a guy with a halberd is any less different from doing it with a longsword then doing it unarmed would be.

i applaud your attempt at adding realism but sometimes realism takes more then it adds to the game. it's hard to get the perfect balance for the group you rp with, if all of you think that it should work that way, then our opinion is not really important.

There are some when it's practically called for... For instance, my group is reviewing The Netbook of Feats, which is mostly decent as a Feat resource, but have found one just yesterday that falls into this category: Wildrider.

Effects: No penalty for riding bare-back and lumps all ridden beasts together into a single Ride Skill, so, instead of Ride (Horse), Ride (Elephant), Ride (Camel) and Ride (Griffon), you just have Ride (Everything).

This is clearly two Feats, and even then the second one seems a bit over-the-top.
