One event occurred on 22 October 1993, when, according to the researchers, something entered the Earth off Antarctica and left it south of India 0.73 of a second later.

The other occurred on 24 November 1993, when an object entered south of Australia and exited the Earth near Antarctica 0.15 of a second later.

The first event was recorded at seven monitoring stations in India, Australia, Bolivia and Turkey, and the second event was recorded at nine monitoring stations in Australia and Bolivia.
You should better have not one of these enter Earth right where you are standing... :]

More information on this horrible subject

Hm. I'm skeptical. Not that quark matter exists, but that the stuff would show up as a seismic event.

There comes a point where really dense matter passes through normal matter without anything you'd call impact. Compared to this stuff, normal matter is rather like a rarified gas. It shouldn't really strike the surface hard, it should just sort of pass through like your hand through air.

Hoping for a UFO story ...science instead.

As for the subject... does anyone really think we understand how the ENTIRE universe and what makes it have form functions? It strikes me as arrogant to say we understand everything.

This is really interesting, but I wouldn't call it horrible. If this is for real, the Earth has been getting hit with these things throughout its history. Since nobody has noticed, I'm thinking it's not that traumatic. :)

I agree. While I'm VERY skeptical of UFO's and aliens visiting Earth from other worlds, it's silly to think that we're totally alone in this universe and/or that we are the pinnacle of sentient development. There's a lot of things we don't understand, like what makes up 9/10's of the universe. We're just in the very shallow end of the pool so far.

I think science is basically the process of getting a closer and closer approximation of an understanding of reality. It'll never quite get there, but the approximation will get more and more precise.

Consider this yoinked. I've always tried to convey this, but I could never truly find the words to properly describe my position.

Just be glad that the environment necessary to set up a chain reaction conversion of normal matter to quark matter (assuming it exists) isn't found in typical stellar objects. By typical, I mean your average planet or star undergoing fusion.
