Songs that define who you are

Angel Tarragon

Dawn Dragon
Well I'm shamemeless when it comes to loving you
I'll do anything you want me to
I'll do anything at all

And I'm standing here for all the world to see
Oh baby that's what's left of me
Don't have very far to fall

You know now I'm not a man who's ever been
Insecure about the world I've been livin' in
I don't break easy I have my pride
But if you need to be satisfied

I'm shameless, oh honey I don't have a prayer
Every time I see you standin' there
I go down upon my knees

And I'm changin' swore I'd never compromise
Oh but you convinced me otherwise
I'll do anything you please

You see in all my life I've never found
What I couldn't resist what I couldn't turn down
I could walk away from anyone I ever knew
But I can't walk away from you

I have never let anything have this much control over me
I work too hard to call my life my own
And I've made myself a world and it's worked so perfectly
But it's your world now I can't refuse
I've never had so much to lose
Oh I'm shameless

You know it should be easy for a man who's strong
To say he's sorry or admit when he's wrong
I've never lost anything I've ever missed
But I've never been in love like this

It's out of my hands
I'm shameless, I don't have the power now
I don't want it anyhow
So I got to let it go

Oh I'm shameless, shameless as a man can be
You make a total fool of me
I just wanted to you to know

Oh I'm shameless
I just wanted you to know
Oh I'm shameless
Oh I'm down on my knees...shameless

I'm quite sure this song clearly defines me and my personality - my 'theme song'. Whats yours?

Now here's the big question for ya Fru: Who originally wrote and sang that song? :)

(And no, it wasn't Garth Brooks. ;))

You've got to learn how to leave me be, for us to ever get along
You've got to give me the kind of time it takes, to prove I'm right or wrong
'Cause nobody knows what I had to go through-Maybe no one even cares
But all the while as the clock was tickin', I've been holed up in my lair
Doin' things my own way....My own way
You say I don't have a leg to stand on, so it's a good thing I've got two
But if I had only one leg to stand on, that's exactly what I'd do
No one can say there's a right or wrong way-Everyone's got their own advice
Now am I back to where I started, after all I've sacrificed?
By doin' things my own way....My own way
I gotta do things my own way
Yeh....my own way
I've got these feelins' I'm tryin' to deal with, I'm not so sure you understand
If I seem to be too preoccupied, to fit into your plans
It's just that its one thing on top another-Now it's one too many high
I wonder how many piles of things it takes, to bury me alive
I'm doin' things my own way...My own way
I gotta do things my own way.......My own way
Yeh I gotta do things my own way-My own way
Gotta do things my own way-Yeh my own way
My own way-My own way
Oh yeh....it's just the way it is, baby

The Gambler - Kenny Rogers

On a warm summer’s evenin’ on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin’ out the window at the darkness
’til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

He said, son, I’ve made a life out of readin’ people’s faces,
And knowin’ what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
So if you don’t mind my sayin’, I can see you’re out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey I’ll give you some advice.

So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, if you’re gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.

You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table.
There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done.

Now ev’ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin’
Is knowin’ what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
’cause ev’ry hand’s a winner and ev’ry hand’s a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.

So when he’d finished speakin’, he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.

You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table.
There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done.

You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count you r money when you’re sittin’ at the table.
There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done.

LOL. Billy Joel!!

Wow, I'm a HUGE Billy Joel fan and this song is AWFUL! Seriously, there are SO many better Billy Joel tunes than this.

I didn't say it was a great song (although I do really enjoy the Garth Brooks version). :)

I liked the Billy Joel version, not his best hit by any means but it was a good song.

I thought it was too schmaltzy when Billy Joel sang it. But who am I to talk? My favorite "slow" Billy Joel song is Lullaby from his River of Dreams album.

Good night my angel time to close you eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say

I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Where ever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away

Good night my angel now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay

And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark and deep
Inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me

(Musical Bridge)
Do do do do...

Goodnight my angel now it's time to dream
And dream how wondeful your life will be
Someday your child will cry and if you sing this lullaby
Then in your heart there will always be a part of me

Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabies go on and on
They never die that's how you and I will be

-----

I always liked it but it has a much deeper meaning to me since I became a dad.
