Sophie Turner is Lara Croft

No, more like

Or Another of the more modern Lara Croft from the recent Tomb Raider Series (which most of our young people will probably be more familiar with than the old Relic the old people like us are familiar with)

I couldn't play the old TR even then. Controls were to janky.

Last actor looked like the new TR games. I quite liked them tbh.

Sophie doesnt look like the video game Lara. She does look like depictions of her in related artwork.

I mean, it's the first time we've gotten a live-action Lara who is actually British!

I've also gone on record to say that I really liked the Alicia Vilkander Tomb Raider movie; I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. She definitely looks more like classic Lara as opposed to scrappy Survivor Trilogy Lara. Of course, they also just announced a remake of the original game as well as a new Tomb Raider game with a more classic Lara Croft, so it makes sense for the pendulum to swing back to sexy, snarky action hero from the more realistic tough-as-nails survivor of the most recent games. I'll remain skeptically optimistic at this... I really did love the new direction of those games in general.

I like the vibes of the franchise, but I find the sexualization of the original off-putting. Obviously that carries through to today, in terms of how people expect the actress to look. (Not in this thread. But have seen much of that elsewhere).

I played the 2013 game and watched the Vikander movie, which was solid but forgettable. I love the genre though and there hasn't been much to like in that regard recently, so I'm hopeful that it will be a good show.
