I think this build might have worked out very well in a 3.0 game with a build of Sorc1\PsionX\DragonDiscipleX. In 3.0, psions could use any stat for their manifesting stat, and the stat bonuses from DD could give a character access to a rather nice catalog of buffs. The level of sorc would be there just for entrance to DD.
