sorcerer -> lore master

Not to split hairs, but the Wizard would only need to have Spell Mastery for six spells. Wizards can always prepare Read Magic.
Ah, right. Still. It's unlikely a Wizard is going to have an Int of 22+ at 6th level, so the Wizard is still going to need to spend two feats in most cases to meet the spell prerequisits (spell mastery twice) under such an interpertation.

Virtually any casting PrC grants more than one knowledge. Sorcerer 6/PrC 3/Loremaster is rock solid if you don't run into skill issues.

I would like to play a sorcerer that becomes a lore master. So the sorcerer has the pesky problem of only having knowledge arcana on the list of class skills. So I have come up with 2 alternatives playing a human with one level of marshal for the class knowledge skills and the able learner feat or taking the education feat from Eberron. I like the Determined Caster and Motivate Dexterity minor auras. I’m having a hard time deciding between loosing a caster level and taking the education feat. Any opinions or options out there except the obvious play a wizard?

Thanks,

Ask your DM to make a small exception for you?

Unless you're playing online or with a very conservative DM, I think that anyone who makes such a difficult and costly choice as combining a Sorcerer with the Loremaster deserves to be helped!

Propose to your DM to have 5 ranks in a cross-class knowledge skill in place of the second required knowledge. It would cost you the same amount of skill points, and it would be LESS useful for you since it's only worth a +5.

You're already largely penalized by having to waste so many of the few precious sorcerer's known spells.
You penalize yourself again by spending skill points in a cross class skill...
A DM would need to be insane to think that you're taking advantage!

Thanks for all of the replies. I found an additional way to qualify is the draconic heritage feat from Races of the Dragon. Two of the dragons give a knowledge skill as a class skill. Still the sorcerer needs 4 feats to qualify for the prestige class 1,1,3,6 assuming a human. (versus 2 for a wizard assuming bonus feat and scribe scroll) Any suggestion of a full caster level prestige class that doesn’t require a feat other then item creation, skill focus knowledge, or meta-magic. Alternatively if the prestige class costs a feat but then gives a feat that helps qualify for loremaster that also works. On the idea of asking for special circumstances and situations I’m to lawful of a person to want to do that.

Hmm... Mage of the Arcane Order gives a bonus metamagic feat at 2nd, and all but one of it's required feats are metamagic in and of themselves.

So a Human Sorcerer-5/Mage of the Arcane Order-2 has...

Character 1: Arcane Preparation
Human Bonus: Cooperative Metamagic
Character 3: Arbitrary Metamagic Feat (has to be a metamagic feat).
Character 6: Open Character-level feat
Mage of the Arcane Order 2: Bonus Metamagic feat.

Use the feat at Character 6: for Skill Focus, and the feats are fine.

I think there's a regional or racial feat (either in the FRCS/PGtF or one of the races books, maybe Wild) where you get all knowledge skills as class skills (and +2 to two knowledge skills)

Mage of the Arcane Order, as explained above already. ;)

The class is found in Complete Arcane.

Prerequisites are basically nonexistant, if you also need to qualify for Loremaster.

Bye
