Sorceror Advice

If i were to make a sorc, I would take the feat Energy Substitution.

having all ice spells is nice, but eventually you'll come up against Ice monsters.

The ability to shoot off a regular ol' fireball is a HUGE benefit.

You'll still be shooting off Iced Lightning bolts, Iced Balls, and Iced this n' that. But with the feat, you'll always be able to go back to basics.

One of the biggest problems with Sorcs is there spell selection, with one feat, you practicly double your offensive spells.

Unless i've missed something.

Re: Paladin 1/Sorceror X

if you are going to multi-class, I would recommend being a multi-classed Paladin. And taking Paladin as your first level.

Darn it, a message board glitch threw away everything I wrote! It is never as good the second time around!

My experience is that this doesn't work. I thought it sounded like great synergy, but I took a character like this up to 6th level before abandoning it with my DM's approval. Being 2 levels behind in spell acquisition is a *real* killer, especially at the slow rate that sorcerers get spells at low level. 1 new cantrip at 2nd, 1 new 1st level spell at 3rd...

I'd disagree with Garnet, although it depends upon how your DM runs things.

If the most important thing is to be able to keep all the options open and the DM attempts to stitch up characters with tricky situations, then you might have to.

On the other hand, I think it might be more enjoyable for you to stick with your cold-and-ice themed sorcerer who simply *doesn't* cast fire spells. As long as you can trust your DM to not simply pound you with cold-immune creatures again and again, you will have lots of fun with someone that is themed. I'm doing that at the moment myself - I'm deliberately avoiding some of the "common knowledge VITAL" spells such as Magic Missile and Shield because I want this sorcerer to be distinctive, and not just a cookie cutter sorcerer with the "ideal" spell list.

BTW, I think that Still spell and Silent spell are killer feats for the sorcerer - independently or in combination there are times when you *really* need these spells!

Cheers

Because of the spell progression being a level slower than normal, if you want a spell-heavy anything, you should choose wizard.

I'm sorry, but a 7th level character who is primarily a caster and whose max spell level is 2nd is going to be very underpowered.

And having 5 ranks in 8 skills isn't going to help any at 7th level.
