Soulblade with Psychic Assassin

First Post
The Psychic Assassin from the now defunct and sorely missed "The Mind's eye" is, to me, a very interesting PrC, one I'd like to see in play. In my opinion, the almost perfect "official" WotC class to transition to this is the Soulblade. I have one question, that I think I know the answer to, but would like some back up. On the lines where the psychic assassin grants " +1 level existing manifesting class", does this mean its levels would stack with the soulblade's levels for determing the mindblade's abilities, etc? I think it would (or should) but was wondering what anyone else thinks.

Thanks in advance!

Technically, no. But i agree, the soulknife and psychic assassin are a perfect fit, and i see no real problem with house-ruling it.

(BTW, the Mind's Eye is coming back.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the soulknife lack a manifester level entirely, and not qualify for the PrC if left otherwise pure?

But it "manifests" its mindblade, with increasing abilities and power. It psionically creates the weapon.

It might "manifest" it's blade, but as far as I am aware, nowhere does it specify that the soulknife has a "manifester level" (unlike, say, the Psychic Warrior, Psion, or Wilder, for which a manifester level is explicitly defined) while the PrC explicitly requires a manifester level of 5.

True, true. But I think the distinction is narrow enough I might house rule it... still haven't decided yet. I like both classes a lot and fully plan to spring something like a soulblade/assassin on some unsuspecting players.

Technically it doesn't qualify, nor would its mindblade progress even if it did. However, the Complete Psionic is due out next April and there's a very strong likelihood that the Psychic Rogue will be in there. That would be the perfect fit.

True, true. I'm really jazzed about that book. I wish it was already out!
