The reason it would be useful is because some people focus on dealing sonic damage, either by learning those spells and taming those monsters, or by getting the Elemental Substitution feat from T&B. Then, they can turn a fireball into a sonicball. The main reason to do this is that nobody has resistance to sonic effects, so you're effectively more powerful than mages who focus on fire, cold, or any other element.Marimmar@Home said:Just looked it up, sonic resistance is useful only against 3 monsters from the MM1 and a total of 4 spells.
