Source/Role Matrix in the Advanced Player's Guide

Oh, I realize the reason why it's not just called monk. I just think given the quality of the author a better (non-misleading) name could have been picked.

How about Contemplative Martial Artist?;)

P.S.: I don't play 4E but I have ganked "Powers" to use in my houseruled 3.5E game (for non-spellcasting classes). However, there hasn't been anything to steal for Bards and Monks yet (err, sorry Ari, Troubadors and Martial Artists). I don't want to wait for PHBII, so I'm eagerly awaiting this to use for my game. Besides, Ari's a class act, I want to help keep him employed;).

Well, hindsight is 20/20. While "mystic" probably would have been better, if for no better reason than to avoid all of this "My opinion is better than yours" drama, we're stuck with "martial artist" now... and I'm perfectly happy with that.

WotC catches a lot of flack for some of their names, sometimes deservedly.

But I just have to say that calling a Divine class a "Martial Artist" seems like a really bad idea.
It's a funny one. Personally, I would use the term "Brother" - I've never been a fan of the monk, even back in the day. Brother captures the divine aspect whilst still allowing for the martial/striker aspect of the class.

Whichever way, I'm very much looking forward to this product, well done to all concerned.

Best Regards
