Special Conversion Thread: Unicorns

Well, let's see how that looks. For SLAs, prismatic spray and maybe persistent image for the advanced illusion?

Absolutely! As Demiurge pointed out (far) upthread, the standard unicorn is a bit under-CRed as it is.

Updated.

Organization: Solitary, pair, or x (3–6) [Didn't Cleon have a benevolent-sounding name that didn't work earlier, that may fit here?]

That's great!

"Chill" it is. Updated.

All done?

Challenge Rating 3 seems too low. They've got a couple of decent damage dealing spells, powerful charge and are generally tougher in a fight.

Up them to CR4?

Apart from that I can't see nothing wrong, except for in the syntax of this here sentence.:p

Added to Homebrews.

Prismatic spray is awfully powerful, so I'd recommend reducing it to at most 3/day, and probably even to 1/day.

Giving them prismatic spray seems awfully powerful full stop. I'm thinking we should change it to some lower level light-based attack spell or spells.

I'm thinking color spray 5/day plus searing light 1/day, both at CL11.

The rest of it is just some SR and flavour-changes.

Wasn't it was your own idea that I didn't think worked for the pyrocorn?

It'll suit the Pinto nicely though:

Organization: Solitary, pair, or blaze (3–6)

We've been sticking to "grace" for the good-aligned ones, I think. Cleon had wanted to use that for the neutral grays, but we went with "herd" for them.

Edit: Interestingly, the neutrals are both herds, and the goods are all graces, but we have unique names for the evils (pyrocorns are an inferno, dark unicorns are a malice, and palominos are a chill). Do we want to go back and make groups of the evil ones all be "malices"?

I could see that, but I'd almost fancy just making it a Su ability and toning down the effects of prismatic spray. Something like "prismatic cone".

1d8 Color of Beam Effect
1 Red 10 points of fire damage (Reflex half)
2 Orange 15 points of acid damage (Reflex half)
3 Yellow 20 points of electricity damage (Reflex half)
4 Green Poison (1d6 points of Dex damage)
5 Blue Slowed for x rounds (Will negates)
6 Indigo Confused, as confusion spell (Will negates)
7 Violet Teleported to edge of unicorn's territory (Will negates)
8 Struck by two colors; roll again twice, ignoring any "8" results.

The pinto is more "colorful" than "fiery", though.

I'd almost prefer each individual species to have a separate moniker.
