Special Edition PHB?

This fall they are releasing a special edition PHB, according to reports on the WotC boards. Any ideas on what is going to make this a special edition PHB? It seems to have leather bindings, but beyond that, what will make it special?

Incorporates the errata?
Clarifies the problematic rules?
Adds new material (spell, feats, etc ...)?

I'm going to guess

Greatly increased price (~50$)
Leatherbound
Authenticty Card

It's been my experience that the special editions are rarely anything more than just a better binding. Possibly with some bundled extras... Especially true of RPG products.

SON OF A      !!!!

I just friggin' bought all of the 3.5 books and now they are going to put out ANOTHER edition that makes my books obsolete (not having the most current information).

So help me, this is the last straw!!! If this is true I swear I am going to convert over to another system and never buy another "rule" product from WoTC ever again.

edit: If it is indeed the same book but with a leather binding and authenticity card (like they did with Rifts) then no hard feelings. Any additional rules and it's OVER!!!

All I can say is...

yawn

Now if they put out a hardback edition of the original game, I would actually be more interested :)

Now you're talkin!!! If they'd re-release AD&D 1E I'd pick it up as soon as it hit the shelves. (WoTC... are you listening???)

I really doubt this will contain any new information. Based on the description given in the catalog, it's just a special edition for collectors.

Not even if they were to put the extra info online?

One other question: Why convert to another system? Why not just don't buy the products? I'm currently using the SRD for any 3.5 games I participate in, and so far have not needed anything since my good old PHB I bought back in 2000. I still use 3.5 products with my old books with no problem.

If you like 3.5, or whatever you currently use, there's no need to cut off your proverbial nose to spite WotC's face.

That said, I'll have to look at one of these before I buy one, because if it's just a fancy binding, there's no need. However, if it's like that product Ryan Dancey speculated about a few years ago, and contains little "sidebars" about the why's and wherefore's behind the rules, then my curiosity may JUST be piqued.

I like having all of my information in one place. Having a 3.0 DMG or PHB sitting at my side with a bunch of print outs of the changes just isn't acceptable to me. I'm sure that other people don't mind, it is just my personal preference.
I got ticked at White Wolf for the same thing. 2 years after every new core book they'd put a new one out like clockwork. I can understand needing a 2E of Vampire but you'd think by the time they got to Mage, Wraith, or Changling that they'd have it down. NOPE... they came out with a total of 3 editions of each core book for Vampire, Werewolf, and Mage and didn't bother with the other two because they canned those lines. I know it is a business and they are in business to make money... I understand it perfectly well. I guess I am just upset that I don't have the gaming budget to keep up with all of the role-playing lines that I like. I don't mind when they come out with new source materials all the time... I do mind when they frequently revise the core rules just to put a new edition out. The core rules are a standard that we have to follow to play.

Sorry... I'm rambling. :\

That's not the orginal game. Plus I can pick up first edition books for 10 bucks as it is.

I didn't say it was... sorry if I was unclear. Just the idea of republishing some of the older editions appeals to me. They can republish the original Chainmail for all I care... it is just a new copy of 1E AD&D that I want (and NO... I don't want Hackmaster either). :D
