Special quarterstaves?

I'm currently working up a monk for the introductory one-shot campaign of a new group, & it struck me how very odd it is that there are no rules (that I can find) for metal-tipped quarterstaves. I mean, in a world with lycanthropes, fey, & numerous other critters that can't be effectively damaged by normal materials, it just seems obvious that someone would be putting silver (or cold iron, or whatever) on the tips of these things.

The only special material I find that applies is darkwood, & the only effect that has is to halve the weight from 4 lbs to 2. Um... w00t?

Anyone know of a source with rules for this (pricing, weight, etc.), or have you had to house-rule it in your games (if it even comes up)? I know I could go with other monk weapons & avoid the problem, but the quarterstaff is an integral part of the char concept for this guy.

I've wondered about quarterstaves myself...I mean, a guy with a sword most likely will thrash someone with a quarterstaff...I suppose if they staffman has two weap fighting, that would even it up, does anyone know of any alternate combat rules with a quarterstaff?

There is a quarterstaff style feat in Complete Warrior. I'd post some info, but can't remember much.

Also, I see no reason not to allow a silver (or whatever) shod staff.

DM perogative.

I personally see MW Q-Staves as metal-enhanced (Generally).

A quarterstaff fighter with the right work-up can be absolutly terrifying.

Really. Seriously scarey.

As is, a staff is a very versatile weapon. 1d6/1d6 double, or 1d6 two handed, two weapon defense works with a staff, and with the CW style feat you can just take a -1 to hit from Combat Expertise to get +3 ac.
