Speed and Movement Rules

First Post
Hi all,

We are uploading this file which contains the rules about speed and movement we are using in our gaming.
They are rules about sprinting and charging.
Since we use these rules we have added exciting pursuits, surprising charges and full realistic situations involving distances and simple running.

We created these rules inspired by the Grim-n-Gritty rules by Mr. Ken Hood, in order to give more realism to the D-n-D universe.

I hope you like them and, of course, all your comments will always be welcome.

Haven't playtested them yet, but I like them. Sure makes chasing somebody a LOT more fun now. :) Thank you for the download, I'm going to use them now, and I'll let you know how they pan out for us.

Look cool, but looming at the number crunching I don't get where the begining 10 came from. The roll? If so what about peters?

Also having the two characters name begin with p is confusing.

About the "10"

Well, first of all, you're right, Peter and Paul are not good names for an example, I have really troubling about naming and needed to upload the file in short.

About the 10: I asume you're talking about the 10 in
Base Sprint Speed = (Base Movement * 4) - 10.

Ok, in this case we substract 10 because of the "taking 10". Let me explain it.
Officially in D&D they say a human walks 30 feet in a round and runs four times this distance, 120 feet in a round.
Everybody is supposed to walk and run the same, it's considered a "standard" distance. As you know well, in the D20 system you can simply "take 10" when an action is "trivial" that means, you don't roll the dice and get a 10.
We considered that when we get the 30 feet walking and the 120 feet running we got a 10 in our rolling, that's why we substract 10, just to fix the base without the dice roll.
I hope I've clarified your doubt, if not just make me know it and I'll try to make it better :)

Alanbit,

I'll be using these rules in my next session (or rather, a stripped down version). I'll let you know how things go, but the work you put into this is very good.

Thank you all.
The purpose is to improve this rule between all of us just to improve our gaming.
I'm worried about the problems you could find using feet. We work with meters, and the rule was originally designed to work with them, I'd like to know the troubling you're getting when traspassing it to feet.
Thanks again to all and kind regards
