What book is it? Kinda curious now.
Because I think it heavily depends on the book. Some cause me to think about them a lot between chapters, others you can read in one sitting and not miss much, in my experience.
From the timing and description in the OP, my strong assumption is Wind and Truth, book 5 in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series.

Different people have different approaches to consuming media. I am take my time and savor it kind of guy. My wife is a binge-watcher.

What I don't understand is people watching shows at faster playback speed to get through them more quickly.

My Sunday nights are ruined since we need to watch the new Yellowstone season the minute it is coming out. Most shows we tape and watch 2-3 at one time or it can wait a couple days for the family to sit.

I legitimately don't understand how some folks speed run their way through a thing they have been really waiting for, especially books but also things like television shows or video games. . . How can you appreciate it if you read as fast as humanly possible just to be the first to finish it?
From the video game speed runs I've seen, it's not about the race to the finish. It's about understanding every available asset and maximizing their use. It's about knowing everything about the game, and then trimming the fat until only protein remains. The shortest completion time shows that you understand the most about the game.

Ah, haven't kept up with this series. I remember liking it well enough, and it had some really great moments (Dalinars 'the next step. Always the next step.'). But I do think you can speed through these quite easily, as they are (or were, in any case) rather simple.
Maybe I need to catch up with them, was Rhythm of war any good?

I was listening to them on my drives, and I got 2.5 books in (about 120 hours) before I could not take Shallan anymore.
