Spell Balance help?

In Relics and Rituals, The 2nd level Arcane AND Divine spell:

Commanding Presence ( pg 59 )

grants a CHA increase of 1d4+1 for 1hour/lvl.

Assuming that Bards and Sorcerers can use this CHA increase to cast more spells/day, this is basically granting a powerful metamagic feat at the cost of a 2nd level spell slot.

Since this spell's origins were "divine" in nature (per the description ) I'm considering allowing the spell, but perhaps limiting the CHA bonus to Arcane casters to a maximum of 3 instead of 5.

Is this still too generous? Am I being stingy? Your thoughts appreciated...

Since it can only be cast once per week it's already got an oft overlooked balance built in. And unless you can get the duration extended to 24 hours or more, it shouldn't grant any bonus slots.

Check out the spell Eagle's Splendor. Same thing, WotC spell. It's just like Bull's Strength, Cat's Grace, Endurance, Owl's Wisdom, or Fox's Cunning.

Don't worry about it. :)

This would be just the same as Eagle's Splendour from Tome & Blood.

You do not gain bonus spells per day from temporary ability increases (even if they last for 24h or longer). Look at the Tome & Blood versions, I think they actually state that.

Just use Eagle's Splendor. It gives you the same bonus to your Cha for 1 hour/level, but it does not grant any extra spells.
