But rather than just refer to a spell in some splatbook, wouldn't it be cool to have this ability as a feat as well?
The spells would still exist for those who failed to meet the prequisites, or
Like PC said, it would take some careful thought and consideration to get it right, but it would definitely be cool.
And when you consider the Metamagic feats, many of them seem to have sprung from similar pre-3e spells that did the same thing.
You could build an entire feat chain around this ability. But I have no ideas as yet as my splatbooks are at home, and I'm at "work"
