Spell Fire: Explain this to me please?

K - just keep in mind that if you do allow the ability to even approach the power it has in the novel it's going to be a headache unless you and you're players are real good.

And I strongly recommend a thorough reading of those books before proceeding with any game based on the power that is the namesake of the first book.

Np. And from what you described, I doubt any DM would allow that kind of power in a game, unless we're talking about something truly epic going on. As described in the thread and via the now understood rules in the book, I don't think it would be that great a problem. It'd maybe be worth a single +1 ECL adjustment to balance things out or even the cost of a coupla feats.

And an insult to the books.

Well, except that lots of people other than Shandril can actually use spellfire - the Chosen of Mystra all have the Silver Fire ability, which is a form of spellfire.

Shadril's just got a lot more of it, which is why she's so hunted. :)

I don't think I could ever allow any player those abilities. I loved the books a lot, and to me it would be like redoing the quest to destroy the Ring - I fear I'd be trapped in the shadow of the books

[sblock]Also there is the issue of Shandril's ultimate fate in Hand of Fire. While I think the events were a bit forced, the problem of her power ultimately spiralling out of control is important to the character.

Oh well, while we're on the subject, here is a poem I wrote after finishing Hand of Fire. If that book were a movie, imagine this being the music that plays as the credits begin to roll.

My love,
I hold my hand to thee,
My love,
I bar my soul to thee,
My love,
I give my heart to thee,
So we two shall be
Here eternally
Loving faithfully
Brighter than the sun.

The paths,
We walk beneath the sun,
Are long
As from our foes we run,
But though
Our trials seem to not end
Still we two shall be
Lovers faithfully
Tied eternally
Brighter than the sun

(Coda)
For love is flame that always lasts,
Even when everything else has passed,
And she can warm the soul forever,
Even when all else is gone.

And though
A heart may be strong
In flame
It can only last so long
For the brief
Candle has the brightest flame
And the memory
Shall eternally
Last with those who see
What's brighter than the sun.

So your memory
Shall remain with me
And you'll always be
Brighter than the sun.

Sorry, but mass production demeans anything. I prefer a Realms where spellfire is unique - silverfire not withstanding (which is different and far weaker than spellfire).
